Other Tree Tips and Info:

Even if you decide to hire a company to remove trees for purely aesthetic purposes, it's still important to do your homework and compare prices. Consider these factors when determining the cost of removing a tree and whether it fits your current budget:

  •        Removing the stumpWhen you ask for estimates, let the tree service know if you want the stump removed. Stump grinding, the process used to remove the stump, typically costs an additional fee.
  •        Nearby Hazards. If your tree is located close to power lines or other dangers, the price is usually higher. Dead trees are more hazardous than live ones. As such, many companies will charge you an additional fee for hazardous tree removal.
  •        Emergencies. If your tree has been struck by lightning during a storm and is ready to fall, you should expect to pay more because the company will need to complete the job quickly. If the company is working during the remnants a storm, there's more risk of injury to the workers. You should look into having the hazardous trees and ones near your home removed before it turns into an emergency situation.
  •        Licensure and insurance. Companies pay a high price to maintain the correct licensure and insurance that covers both worker's compensation and liability. You get what you pay for when searching someone in this field. If the price is unusually low, the company may not have adequate insurance or possess a license, which is illegal.

Any tree service company can't easily give you an estimate over the phone without looking at the tree. But you can estimate the general cost beforehand to avoid any potential surprises

Severe winds and harsh storms can brutally assault your trees. So, too, can insects like wood-boring bugs severely affect a tree's health. Ultimately, certain problems like these can kill a tree. Even if your tree has died from an inadequate water or nutrient supply, you should still consider having it removed. Here's why you should:

  •        Dead trees attract pests. Your tree may be dead or is in the process of dying, but that doesn't mean wildlife won't build a nest there. In fact, while a nice family of bluebirds may move in, your tree might also attract rats and termites. Both pests can migrate the short distance to your home.
  •        They're unattractive. Dead trees aren't aesthetically pleasing. If you spend money on other aspects of landscaping, you're counteracting those upgrades with the unappealing look of a dead tree.
  •        Tree diseases are contagiousIf your tree died fromor is currently dying froma disease, other plants can contract that disease. So if you planted flowers underneath your tree, or you planted other trees in the general vicinity, the same disease may infect these live and healthy plants.
  •    Tree branches may fall. Dead trees begin to decompose. If you don't hire someone to remove it, these weakened branches may fall on a windy day or during a storm. In actuality, these branches may fall at any given time, destroying your home or your property. They're also a liability if they fall on your neighbor's property. Don't forget, animals and people may walk underneath the tree and suffer a serious injury, if not death, from being hit by a branch.
  •        The tree is more likely to fall. Decay and decomposition compromise the integrity of the tree. Whichever way the tree falls, it may damage your home or your neighbor's property of injure your family or passerby.

If you notice a tree might be dying, you should call an arborist to assess it. The sooner you catch the problem, the less costly tree removal is—and you may actually save it.

When planted correctly and kept healthy, trees can be the focal point of a landscape design. You might regard them as a worry-free part of your landscaping, but when insects or disease infect your trees or they grow too large, you may need the help of tree experts, or professionals known as arborists. There are four distinct times when you need the help of these experts if you want your trees to be an asset, rather than a burden, in your yard.

Pruning trees

Trees need to be pruned from time to time to maintain their overall health. But too much pruning can damage the tree. A certified arborist can help you determine how much pruning is needed and the best time to prune. The arborist will help you remove infected or dead limbs, cut back branches to encourage growth and prune the tree to improve its look.

Pruning may also be necessary when the tree's growth interferes with your property by coming too close to power cables or your roof. Having an expert's help will ensure that you prune the tree back from these hazards without damaging it.

Tree removal

While removal should be a last resort, if a tree is too sick or in a location that is threatening the structure of a building, you may need to remove it. Before resorting to tree removal, make sure the arborist agrees that this is the best course of action. Often, arborists can treat trees that appear dead or sick and nurse them back to health. When it's warranted, tree removal is still quite dangerous and requires a skilled professional.

So whether you are pruning/trimming or removing your tree/s, The Tree Whisperer is the right company to hire for the job!
